Even though I got my AGT 24 last Christmas, it is only recently that I've really begun thinking about what to name her, as well as her story!
So let's hear it from those of you with AGTs, or those who "reinvent" their historicals, how do you come up with names and stories for your dolls?
My older AGT, AGT 12G, is Elizabeth "Libby" Campbell. She's a modern girl who's a bit of an adventurer. You see, she stumbled on a time portal (the exact nature of this portal changed throughout my childhood) that takes her to random times and places. Along the way, she met up with Molly and Felicity, and they often adventure together.
I can't decide how this new girl fits in though, should she be modern girl, or from a different time altogether? I was thinking of making her a Medieval princess who decided she liked modern times (here she has rights!) better than her own time.
I still haven't figured

I have 24 named as Emma Brighton.
For some reason that name just popped in my head and stuck. I actually really love that name

I normally pick my names just based on how I feel about the doll. For example, I renamed my elizabeth on the basis of a great book character I love, and she became Purity Cooper. I wanted another doll named after a virtue, so...AGOT 21 became Grace. My first AGOT was bought because she looked more like me than any of the other first run AGOTs (she's #15) and I gave her my middle name, Layne. Then I got AGOT 23 as a best friend to Layne, and gave her my childhood best friend's middle name, Marie. So, there you go.

I have a list of the (6) AGTs I want, and what their names are. I'd be more than open to change one of their names if she got here and didn't look like her name in person.
Most of them are named after book/tv characters, lol, and 3 of them, I even just went searching through the AG site for who I thought looked more like so-and-so character, lol.

I have my names picked out ahead of time. So far, the original name I had for 26 has since changed. I was going to just name her something I liked, then I got this cool present from my mother for my birthday, and I finished watching the dvd that accompanied the present, so when 26 arrives, her name will be Payton.
I have been a huge Bears fan since I was just a kid. I was very sad when Walter Payton passed away from a form of liver cancer in 1999. Watching his highlight DVD I decided to start naming my dolls after things/people that have had an impression on me.

I am in the beginning stages of my collection, so I have some dolls with personalities picked out, named, plus I am working on the dolls that I have, making openings for more dolls and working them into stories. (Great thought is givin to dolls around here )
My first doll was a Marisol doll. I was planning on having boys and girls both, which is way more fun thean just girls. So when I opened the doll, I was shocked at how she just looked like a he. So I named him Nemesio, and made up his story - he's Puerto Rican. I also got an Asain doll around the same time, and he seemed like the perfect friend for Nemesio. Then I got a Kaya, who looked like a boy to me, so I renamed him Ben. Then, since Marisol is a LE, I got two more, and then Nemesio became a triplett, with Juan Carlos and Jose. I have planned for them to have a girl cousin, and have her personality worked out. I have some more personalities in themaking to. It's so stimulating to be able to create your own world of dolls. It's better than a therapist!

It is soo much fun creating characters for your dolls! I cant stop. (which is why i want soo many more dolls!)
Reita, my first AGOT is named after my grandmother... and her intrest are very much like mine (horses, dogs, flute...) Her character is probebly the most developed cause i've had her the longest.
Hannah is named after my friend, she is a totally sporty , but fashinable (sp?). Hannah loves summer, swimming, running, beaches...
Then i decided that i needed a dancer... then came Birdie (AGOT 25 whom I dont have yet) her personality is kinda ed after another friend of mine who loves to dance. Birdie is daring, courageous, loves pink, purple and colonial times. (this way she can wear all of the Felicity and Elizabeth clothes that i love!
I also want Saffron: who is an artist, and Ameris, a gir l from Veitnam.
My most recent that i have thought up is Austin...her mom is in the army and Austin is in Cadets.
Sorry for rambling...
A Medival would be GREAT!! I would love to have medival dresses for my dolls
Sometimes i pick names of someone i know...but other times its from books, songs or just names i've thought of!
Good luck deciding

I think one of the greatest joys of having dolls is naming them!

Caroline is getting AGT23 for Christmas...
She is seven and of course it will be a BIG decision to name her doll. My daughter Allyson (14) thinks # 23 looks like her and Caroline should name her Allyson...Caroline will not go for that.
I found a baby-name book at a yard-sale and I hope that helps Caroline with her decision.
I remember how hard it was just to name my CHILDREN...
